Hermitage at
just love forest
A return to what is essential. Solitude, simplicity, and listening.
Across history, people from many walks of life have entered periods of intentional seclusion in nature. This included mystics and monks, artists and writers, elders, seekers, and householders. At its essence, hermitage is an intentional period of solitude, simplicity, and listening that is unique.
Some went to pray. Some to reflect. Some to create. Some to grieve. Some to remember who they were beneath obligation, noise, and roles.
It was a way of returning to clarity, to truth, to life itself.
This practice has become rare in modern times. We believe it should not be. In the chaos of today’s times, hermitage is an essential experience of refuge.

The Spirit of Hermitage
At Just Love Forest, hermitage is held as a living relationship between the individual, the land, and silence itself.
It is not a group retreat, a vacation, or a program to complete. There is no prescribed method or outcome.
This is not a retreat in the conventional sense. Beyond your first day, is no programming, facilitation, or group activity. The forest, the quiet, and your own practice become the teachers.
Hermitage spaces are intended for solo occupancy only, to preserve the contemplative field of the land.
Who is hermitage for?
Hermitage may be supportive for those who are:
• Seeking time without external stimulation for prayer, meditation, or reflection
• Longing to reconnect with nature and rhythm
• Engaging in a creative or spiritual reset
• In transition or discernment
• Grieving
The Hermitage Program at Just Love Forest is a container guided by three simple principles
STILLNESS
A reduction of external input that allows the nervous system and inner life to settle naturally.
LAND
The forest is not a backdrop, but an active teacher. Offering its rhythm, presence, and wisdom. Directly experienced through the cosmos, seasons, terrain, wildlife, soundscape, and silence.
INNER KNOWING
Without constant distraction or stimulation, intuition often rises on its own. Hermitage invites trusting your inner guidance, rather than striving toward an outcome.
the arc of your hermitage journey
-

before hermitage
Complete the application and schedule a pre-arrival Zoom consultation to explore why hermitage is calling and to prepare physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
-

Day 1: Arrival & Landing
Upon arrival, there is time to settle. To orient gently, without rush. We hike to the mountain top. This is your introduction to the forest. You are encouraged to trust your intuition about where you feel called within the land.
-

Day 2: hermitage begins
Then the days of solitude begin. This may include prayer, meditation, rest, creative work, writing, music, or simply being. The forest becomes the teacher. Silence becomes the guide.
-

Return & Integration
Hermitage does not end when you leave the forest. There is a return, back into relationship, work, and community with what has been seen or clarified. Hermitage serves as a bridge: from insight into lived wisdom.
TWO Hermitage pathways
Hermitage at Just Love Forest is offered through two distinct pathways. Eco-village or Deep Forest Hermitage. Each honors solitude and inward listening, while meeting different thresholds of support and immersion. Both pathways are rooted in the same intention:
to allow the forest to be the teacher, and silence to do its work.
Food arrangements, readiness, and logistical needs are clarified in advance through a pre-arrival consultation.
Hermitage is not one-size-fits-all. These pathways exist to support different ways of entering silence, while holding the same underlying intention.
Eco-Village Hermitage
Eco-Village Hermitage offers a supported form of solitude within the broader eco-village environment.
Guests stay in a private canvas bell tent:
Hermitage participants are given space for privacy and quiet.
This pathway may be well-suited for those who are:
• New to extended solitude
• Desiring some practical support
• Seeking hermitage without full wilderness immersion
2. Deep Forest Hermitage
Deep Forest Hermitage is an immersive experience of solitude and relationship with the land.
Guests stay in a Nylon Teepee tent:
This pathway may be well-suited for those who are:
This is not a survival experience.
• Experienced with extended solitude
• Desiring minimal support
• Seeking hermitage with full wilderness immersion
Guests are supported in ways that honor both safety and autonomy.
