Meaningful Service to the Land
Service Days at Just Love Forest are an invitation into stewardship. This a chance to care for the land that holds us while building relationships rooted in shared purpose.
This is not volunteering in the usual sense. It is a practice of tending and being tended to. Together, we engage in meaningful, accessible work that supports the living systems of the forest and the shared spaces that allow community to gather. This may include caring for trails and gardens, maintaining yurts and tents, tending the labyrinth, or supporting seasonal projects that arise from the land’s needs.
No prior experience is required. All tools, guidance, and support are provided, and participants are encouraged to choose tasks that feel safe and comfortable for their bodies and abilities. People of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
Each person arrives with something different to offer: strength, patience, attentiveness, curiosity, or simply a willingness to learn. Every form of participation is valued. Service here is not measured by output or efficiency, but by presence, care, and mutual support.
Many people come seeking connection to nature, to community, or to a sense of purpose and find that working side by side creates bonds that deepen naturally over time. In caring for the land together, we remember that community grows through interdependence.
Service Days take place on Saturdays during our monthly Community Weekends. Simply sign up using the button below.
What to Expect
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed with a warm greeting. We’ll offer a brief tour of Basecamp so you can get oriented and settle in.
You’ll be introduced to everyone contributing that day, along with a simple overview of the projects and how they support the forest. Around noon, we’ll share a wholesome, plant-based lunch together.
From 1–4pm, we’ll move into the service projects at an easy, supportive pace. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring any additional favorites if you’d like.
About a week before your visit, we’ll reach out with more details about the specific projects so you know what to expect.
Voluntary Contributions
Just Love Forest is a 716-acre nature preserve held with deep care and responsibility. Maintaining the land, preparing food, and stewarding shared spaces carries real costs, and we rely on community support to continue this work.
We suggest a recommended contribution of $20 or more for Service Days, offered on a voluntary basis. This helps cover food, tools, and ongoing stewardship of the forest, allowing these gatherings to remain accessible and sustainable.
At the same time, everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. Your presence, care, and intention are meaningful contributions in themselves.
With gratitude and open hearts …
Just Love, always,
The Stewards of Just Love Forest
