40 Day Sadhana

A Reflection on 40-Day Sadhana

I had the honor of walking alongside a beautiful, dedicated soul this winter for 40 days.

In the yogic tradition, sadhana is more than practice, it is a sacred discipline. Rooted in ancient lineages, sadhana refers to the daily spiritual effort one undertakes to align more fully with Truth, to purify the heart and mind, and to walk the path with intention. It is a devotional commitment that’s a bridge between longing and liberation.

At Just Love Forest, a few times each year, usually in the deep stillness of winter or the expansive quiet of summer, I offer a limited number of personalized 40-day sadhana containers for those longing to deepen their spiritual path.

Each sadhana begins with presence. We sit together, virtually or in person, for a listening session that is less about advice and more about attunement. Where have you been? What’s stirring beneath the surface? What thresholds are you standing on?

From there, after a few days of reflection, I return with a custom-designed 40-day journey meant to help you move inward, downward, and homeward. These are not one-size-fits-all programs. Some journeys are solitary and contemplative. Others weave in forest time, movement, prayer, silence, and somatic grounding. Some focus on service or relationships. The last one concluded in February and included a 5-day period of sacred isolation in the forest a retreat into stillness that opened into profound clarity.

This summer (July/August), I’ll be walking alongside one person in this way.

If your heart is nudging you toward something deeper, toward solitude, devotion, and a structure that supports real transformation, I invite you to visit http://www.bala.love to learn more about this one-on-one offering.

You’re also welcome to speak with those who have undertaken this journey with me. They can share from their own experience what it truly means to commit to 40 days of sacred discipline - not to become someone else, but to remember more fully who you are.

This is not for everyone. But for the one who feels the call, it can be life-altering.
